Ascendant shares fall 5%

Ascendant Group Ltd shares fell nearly five percent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading yesterday, giving back most of their eight percent gain on Wednesday.

The Belco owner finished down 35 cents, or 4.8 percent, at $7, as 1,100 shares traded, and was one of five issues to fall.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 10.09 points, or 0.71 percent, to close on 1,416.32. Volume was 46,340 shares and turnover topped $162,000.

KeyTech Lts slid, tumbling five cents, or one percent, to $4.95 as 8,300 shares changed hands.

BF&M Ltd dropped 25 cents, or 1.4 percent, to close on $17.50, as 1,100 shares traded, and Butterfield Bank dropped a cent to $1.99 on the trading of 31,830 shares. Butterfield’s eight percent preference shares also fell by eight cents to $1,179.05 as 10 shares changed hands.
