Business partners Melanie De Rosa, Aprille DeShield, Marie Beach-Johnson and Percy Paynter celebrated a milestone last week.

Last Wednesday marked the tenth anniversary of the foursome’s ownership of the former Seaview Health and Fitness Club located on North Shore Road in Devonshire.

Since reopening its doors under the new name of Seaview Ultimate Fitness Club and ownership of Seaview Fitness Pros Limited, the facility’s trainers and staff have earned a reputation for sculpting bodies, promoting healthy lifestyles and conditioning some of the Island’s elite athletes from various sporting backgrounds.

“Our goal was to make this an environment where everyone would feel comfortable no matter what fitness level they are at,” said co-owner and trainer Mr Paynter. “And we have achieved that goal.”

Ms De Rosa, who is also a professional body builder and trainer, added: “This is our tenth year of operation and it has been a challenging but rewarding experience, doing what we love while fulfilling our purpose. We have a fantastic team which contributes to the operations of Seaview.”

Among Seaview’s staff is charismatic manager, Charmaine Pickett, who says clients adore the club’s “family atmosphere”.

“We get some people that don’t want anything to do with a gym,” Mrs Pickett said. “But once they actually come in, they love it. And we, in return, love our clients. We try and make people feel as comfortable as we can.”

To mark the milestone, Seaview held an open house last Wednesday with the first 20 people arriving receiving a complimentary workout.

There were also various giveaways and personal trainers on hand to share their advice on exercise, nutrition and living a healthier lifestyle.

Seaview’s tenth anniversary celebrations will continue this week with free activities for people of all age groups.

Trainer Brenda Gitschner will facilitate a class reserved for seniors today (Monday) from 10.30am to 12 noon while trainer Sam Glazebrook will run a class for juniors tomorrow from 10am to 12 noon.

Wednesday is ‘Bring a Friend Day’ to be held from 10am to 1pm.

Thursday will see trainer Sharon Lines run a weight and resistance class from 1.30pm to 3pm.

The celebrations will conclude the following day with a yoga class to be run by Mark Powell-Hughes from 12 noon to 1.00pm.
