Bermuda-headquartered Nephila Capital co-founders Frank Majors and Greg Hagood, along with long-time colleague Barney Schauble, have been named the Aon Benfield Outstanding Contributors of the Year at the 2014 Trading Risk Awards in London.

The tight-knit trio have worked together for more than a decade at Nephila, the largest specialist ILS fund manager with some $10 billion of assets under management.

With several Bermuda companies represented, the awards were a celebration of the reinsurance convergence market at the Grange St Paul’s Hotel.

Another Bermuda company, Tokio Solution Management Ltd, won the Market Facilitator of the Year, sponsored by The Insurance Insider. The award acknowledges excellence and achievement in the insurance-linked capital markets sector and is given to the company that has done the most to further the development of the Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) market.

Other honours included The Tokio Solution Young Meteor of the Year Award, which went to Paschal Brooks of AlphaCat Managers.

The Conyers Dill & Pearman Non-life Transaction of the Year Award went to Metropolitan Transportation Authority, GC Securities & Goldman Sachs — MetroCat.

The Life Transaction of the Year sponsored by Societe Generale went to SCOR, Aon Benfield Securities, BNP Paribas & Natixis — Atlas IX.

The BNY Mellon Initiative of the Year went to AIG & Swiss Re Capital Markets — Multimodel Approach to Catastrophe Bond Risk Analysis.
