Insects were eaten, pigs were kissed and Bermuda Football Association treasurer Andrew Griffith stole the show when he donned a red dress to become “Griffilicious” last night as part of a fundraising effort.

Around 15 volunteers took to the stage at Harbour Nights last night for the Big Brothers Big Sisters “How much would you pay to see me…?” fundraiser, performing various acts of embarrassment with the goal of raising donations.

More than a hundred people gathered to watch the spectacle near the junction of Queen Street and Front Street by the time Miss Bermuda Katie Arnfield took the first dare — a dive into Hamilton Harbour wearing her gown.

She was later followed into the water by more casually dressed Gavin (Djata) Smith, who rode a children’s pedal bike off the nearby dock.

A pair of politicians also took part in festivities with Shadow Economic Development Minister Wayne Furbert singing Bob Marley, and One Bermuda Alliance Senator Jeff Baron being auctioned off.

Northlands Primary principal Charles Joynes meanwhile locked lips with “Wanda Bermudez”, a pig from Wadson’s farm, Radio personality DJ Bitsy took a lap around the Bird Cage wearing a bathing suit, tutu and flippers and Police press officer Dwayne Caines had his head shaved — although he was able to flee the stage with his eyebrows intact.

“Everyone told me to think about bacon,” he told the crowd. “It was very hard to think about bacon.”

After being escorted to the stage by Sybil Barrington wearing a red dress and wig, Mr Griffith lip synced a tune by Whitney Houston why the crowd roared with laughter.

While the volunteers have already raised several thousand dollars for the charity, the drive is set to continue into next month.
