Bad behaviour and the question of status

June 25, 2014

Dear Sir,

Foreign people who’ve been living in Bermuda for umpteen years still shouldn’t have much say into having Bermudian status.

Okay, yes, if they’ve been here 15 to 20 years (or longer) then they should be entitled, to be considered Bermudians. But wait, if any Bermudian were to be living in Jamaica for many years and were to act up (cause chaos out there), they’ll get deported back to Bermuda (same with other countries).

So, the question remains as to whether or not such foreigners here would receive the same punishment? If not, then it should be an offence to just list such ones as Bermudians to stay forever regardless (and never have that option listed that the moment they act up ... see you later/don’t return!)

Of course, some foreign people have been in Bermuda many years so the question states what happens to them if they don’t act up?
