Doing us no favours

June 25, 2014

Dear Sir,

I am reminded of an old Native American proverb:

“Only when the last animal has been killed, only when the last river has been polluted, only when the last tree has been cut, only then will the White Man realise that money cannot be eaten”

So …

“Only when the last tourist has left, only when the last foreign investment has been withdrawn, only when wall-sitting has become the only career available for the youth, only then will the union members realise that pink sand cannot be eaten”

A question often crosses my mind: How can union members, who delight in shooting Bermuda in the knee caps, have the temerity to show themselves in public?

I would have thought by now that they would have understood the overwhelming opinion against them. I know the new generation is smarter than that, but by the time they take over, it may be too late.
