A 20-year-old man, Jonathan Burch-DeCosta, has died as a result of a crash in the early hours of Sunday.

Mr Burch-DeCosta’s passing marks the sixth road fatality of 2014, after the death on May 22 of 60-year-old US visitor Daniel Bruce Laubacher following a livery rental cycle crash.

The victim had remained in critical condition at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit after his motorcycle collided with a wooden roadside fence at about 1.40am, on Somerset Road in Sandys, near the junction with Scaur Hill Drive.

According to hospital staff, he succumbed to his injuries last night. His family has been informed.

The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Somerset Police Station at 234-1010.
