Deloitte Bermuda names two new partners

James Dockeray

Deloitte Bermuda has announced the promotion of Liz Cunningham and James Dockeray to partner, effective June 2014.

Liz Cunningham leads Deloitte Bermuda’s Actuarial, Risk & Analytics practice, while James Dockeray leads the Bermuda Tax practice. Liz and James’ promotions reflect the growing importance of Deloitte Bermuda’s Advisory businesses.

Ms Cunningham has extensive insurance industry experience, with particular focus on Enterprise Risk Management. She has in depth understanding of Solvency II, and Bermuda’s proposed Solvency II equivalence regime. She is experienced in developing technical risk documents, such as Commercial Insurer Solvency Self-Assessment reports and risk policies. She has spoken at various industry events, on topics ranging from data analytics to captives in Bermuda, ORSA and model validation.

Ms Cunningham holds a BSc(Hons) in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. She qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) in 2007 and has continued to expand her actuarial knowledge through continuous professional development, work experience and support of the Actuarial Profession in the UK. Prior to joining Deloitte Bermuda, she worked in the risk management function of one of the largest insurers in the UK.

Mr Dockeray has served the financial services industry for over 15 years, and has deep strength and expertise in advising clients on cross border transactions, business and financing structures and US and foreign tax reporting requirements. James has presented on numerous topics, including FATCA, and also moderated a recent roundtable attended by senior figures in Bermuda’s insurance industry alongside global Deloitte tax leaders.

He holds a BSc in Accounting from Lake Superior State University, and a Master of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Taxation from Colorado State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Colorado. Prior to joining Deloitte Bermuda, James spent more than ten years in the Bermuda marketplace working with numerous global investment managers, commercial re/insurers and captives. James has also worked as the vice-president, Taxation for a large alternative asset management company located in Denver, Colorado.
