Educators link up at training workshop

A cadre of educators and youth workers this week went through a professional development training workshop, care of Government and the Mirrors Programme.

A total of 36 people took part in the three-day workshop, which came about as a result of dialogue between Mirrors and the Bermuda Sloop Foundation.

According to a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Community, Culture and Sports, the two organisations had been discussing how the two groups could support each other and other organisations in the community that work with the Island’s young people.

The spokeswoman said: “The three days of the workshop were a journey of exploration and discovery providing professionals with the opportunity to take a look at where they are in their lives and where they would like to be.

“The participants engaged in conversations that challenged their thoughts and beliefs about themselves, their profession and others to support them in creating a new context from which to live their lives.”

Chief executive officer of the Bermuda Sloop Foundation, Denise Riviere, said the training was “impactful”, recommending the course for adults and teenagers who understand the importance of self growth.

The Mirrors Programme will offer another Professional Training workshop between September 24 and 26, and anyone interested in participating or volunteering is invited to e-mail mirrors@gov.bm.
