Two young Bermudian men yesterday received a significant donation toward their education as winners of the third annual Ace Foundation scholarships.

Winner of the Robert Clements/ACE Scholarship, Deondre Trott, received a fully-funded four year scholarship that will go toward earning his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Actuarial Science from Georgia State University.

Eron Woods, meanwhile, will receive $30,000 over the course of two years as winner of the Ace/Bermuda College Education Award. Mr Woods will soon commence his Bachelor’s Degree in the Baking and Pastry Food Service Management Programme at Johnson & Wales University in North Carolina.

Both men thanked their family, friends, and the Ace Foundation for their support.

Mr Trott, a Warwick Academy graduate, was chosen out of 50 other candidates for more than just his “exceptional academic ability,” said Lori Samson, Ace Foundation chairperson. “He is also a creative thinker and dedicated student, a well-rounded individual with strong community ties and family ties.

“Deondre exemplifies those characteristics that we look for when selecting the Robert Clements/ACE Scholar,” said Ms Samson.

Mr Woods — who was profiled recently by The Royal Gazette after being named valedictorian for his graduating Bermuda College class — was chosen for being an “all-around achiever”, said Samantha Froud, chief administration officer for Ace Bermuda.

“Ace is proud to partner with Bermuda College and provide this education award to such a deserving young man. Eron is the essence of what we look for in a scholarship recipient. Ace looks forward to helping him realise his culinary dream,” added Ms Froud.
