Impressive professionalism at KEMH

Dear Sir,

On Thursday, June 12, I entered the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s surgical outpatient ward at the scheduled times of 7.15am, with a great deal of apprehension to have a surgical procedure performed on one of my eyes by Dr Alicia Stovell-Washington. This apprehension was quickly put to rest, as I was processed by a team of professional nurses, who issued specific instructions to me which I completed.

I am writing this letter, which will be copied to Venetta Symonds, CEO of the Bermuda Hospitals Board, and Dr Michael Weitekamp, Chief of Staff of KEMH, to indicate how impressed I was with the professionalism which was evident on this day with the team involved with this surgery.

There appeared to be a clear set of procedures set out which were followed by the team up until I was returned back to the Ward after completion of the surgery.

I have done some investigating, and have been informed that the Chief of Staff is responsible for the improvements to which I refer. How comforting and reassuring it is to have highly trained professionals such as Dr Stovell and her team here in Bermuda, to practice and perform in their particular fields of expertise.

This professionalism was so impressive, that it has caused me to strive to provide superior service to customers at my place of employment. In closing, may I commend all involved with this improved approach to Medical Care at KEMH.
