Whenever Tarrus Riley and Luciano perform on the same stage the audience can always expect one hundred percent of “pure niceness”.

And next week promises to be no exception when the two reggae stars showcase their musical talents during Saturday’s One Love One Life concert that forms part of the Cup Match Summer Splash extravaganza being organised by 441 Productions, Veterans in Action and the City of Hamilton.

Mr Riley, who released his fifth album entitled Love Situation earlier this year, is pumped up for the occasion.

“We are going to be dealing with niceness and the people can expect to hear some new music,” he told The Royal Gazette. “I am going to make it exciting and speak to every mood.

“You have different kinds of moods so I try to speak to every mood.

“My music is very moody so you have time to move, time to listen, time for the lovers and times to give thanks. It’s mood music, definitely.”

Mr Riley, who is the son of former Jamaican reggae singer Jimmy Riley, is no stranger to these shores having previously performed here.

“Last time I was here it was a good vibe; Island people with a good, warm vibe,” Mr Riley said. “I am thankful to the people of Bermuda for their support because without their support it would be impossible for me to come there for a concert.”

Among Mr Riley’s hit songs are the singles She’s Royal, Stay With You, Lion Paw and Beware.

His latest album is a tribute to the Rock Steady era of Jamaican music which is synonymous with late Jamaican singer Alton Ellis who is regarded as the Godfather of the genre.

“This is kind of a Rock Steady record,” Mr Riley said. “It is definitely playing back to that era of Jamaican music.”

Luciano, who is making his second appearance in Bermuda in as many years, is also up for the concert. “I am always excited to return to my second home, Bermuda,” he said. “The people of Bermuda are so warm and friendly and a have a true appreciation for my works.

“It is a wonderful place to perform and I have made so many special friends there over the years. It is a blessing to return.”

Mr Riley is looking forward to performing on the same ticket as Luciano whose string of hit songs include the singles, It’s Me Again Jah and Who Could It Be.

“We are going to put our best foot forward and deliver a great concert,” Mr Riley said. “So I really want to invite and welcome everyone to these vibes and experience what we have to offer.”

Also among the main attractions at this year’s Cup Match Summer Splash is Soca King Machel Montano who will headline another concert to be held in Hamilton on July 30. Mr Montano will be backed by his band HD Family, and will perform with special guest Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy and host DJ Chow of Hot 97 NYC.
