Jobseekers’ TV channel goes live today

Bermuda CableVision CEO Terry Roberson, Home Affairs Minister Michael Fahy and George Outerbridge, director of the Department of Workforce Development.

A new television channel has been launched to help jobseekers find work.

Channel 87 — a partnership between the Department of Workforce Development and Bermuda CableVision — goes live today and features a scrolling display of all the job adverts from the Bermuda Job Board.

Home Affairs Minister Michael Fahy said: “The idea is that if jobseekers see a suitable job on the channel, they can then go to the Bermuda Job Board to apply for that specific job online.

“This widens the employment opportunity network by allowing more persons to see all available jobs being advertised in Bermuda.”

Bermuda CableVision CEO Terry Roberson, said: “Our partnership with the Department of Workforce Development has reached an exciting milestone today with the extension of Project HOPE, which was launched at our gala in January.

“With the introduction of this new channel, information about Bermuda job vacancies will receive greater exposure than ever. Employers can easily reach very large audiences, while jobseekers will have a new avenue via which to conduct their searches.

“CableVision is thrilled to make use of our network and technology to bring this new channel to a maximum number of Bermuda homes.”

Employers who wish to advertise on the Bermuda Job Board and Channel 87 should post jobs online at: www.bermudajobboard.bm.
