Three teenagers involved in an altercation at Bermuda College have been given a conditional discharge.

Khalif Williams, 17, Taijuan Davis, 18, and Makai Jacobs, 18, had previously pleaded guilty to taking part in a fight that occurred on December 10 last year.

In Magistrates’ Court this morning, defence lawyer Mark Daniels requested an absolute discharge for his client Mr Williams on the grounds that he did not start the fight. He said that the court-ordered social inquiry report indicated that Mr Williams was not a concern.

However, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner said: “The Bermuda College is not a place to behave in that way.

“I am not about to give them an absolute discharge.”

All three defendants were given a conditional discharge with two years probation.

Mr Warner said: “I hope you don’t consider this a slap on the wrist.”

A fourth co-defendant Kwanjah Burrows, 17, had previously pleaded not guilty and is due to be sentenced in August. • A man pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Delmon Talbot, 51, of Smith’s Lane, Smith’s, denied the offence which occurred in Pembroke Park on June 8.

Mr Warner released Mr Talbot on $5,000 bail with one surety.

The case was adjourned and a trial date was set for November 10.
