Under-17 squad named for tournament

Bermuda Under-17 player Dore

Alex Dore, Delray Rawlins and Micah Simons, who are in Guyana representing the ICC Americas team in the Under-19 one-day tournament, have been named in the Bermuda Under-17 squad for next month’s Match Player Tournament at the National Sports Centre.

The Bermuda Cricket Board yesterday confirmed that the 18-man squad for the five-day competition which will also involve the United States and Canada.

The squad will take part in an intensive training camp to prepare them for the tournament, which runs from August 18 to 23.

“The squad has been training regularly and competing in both the Evening League and the First Division since April,” said Terry Fray, the Under-17 director.

“We are pleased with their development and progress thus far. This tournament is an integral part of the qualification process for the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2016. As soon as it is finished we will start phase two of our preparation plan for the ICC Under-19 World Cup qualifier which we expect to be in April 2015.”
