The 2014 Somerset Cricket Club Cup Match team waits to collect the trophy from the Deputy Governor, Ginny Ferson on February 1. Below, some of the Cup Match legends at last week’s clash gathered for a group photo. Shown front row from left, Charlie Marshall Jr, Allen Richardson, Eldon Raynor, Herbie Bascome Jr and Adrian King. Second row from left are Randy Horton, Junius Durrant, Kenny Cann, Noel Gibbons, Joe Bailey, Leroy “Tubby” Richardson, Gladwyn “Dewey” Trott, Jeff Pitcher, Dennis Wainwright and Lee Raynor. ‘Tubby’ Richardson and Woodgate Simmons (not pictured) are the oldest Cup Match players surviving, being in their mid ninety years of age.

There was plenty to smile about during the two days of the 113th Annual Somerset CC vs St George’s CC Cup Match at Somerset.

Photographer Akil Simmons was first in class capturing their smiling captain Jekon Edness holding aloft the priceless silver trophy his team had actually won. The accompanying headline screamed “Well Done Somerset!”
