A new state of the art marina for the City of Hamilton is scheduled to open later this month.

The facility at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess will house up to 60 vessels, ranging in size to accommodate pleasure crafts, tournament fishing boats and super yachts.

The marina — which is part of a $90 million redevelopment project at the hotel — will be the first full-service marina on the Island, featuring integrated pump-out facilities, custom electrical service and water distribution.

Full length fingers offer berth sizes ranging from 25 to 75 feet, and are available on an annual lease with the option of monthly payments.

“We are very excited about the imminent opening of the new marina,” the resort’s general manager Allan Federer, said.

“We are waiting for the last few approvals from the Government and then we will formally open the much-anticipated marina.”

The hotel will also provide additional services for guests of the marina, including custom picnic hampers for day trips or on-board catering for events and gatherings aboard larger vessels and mega yachts.

The hotel held an open day on Saturday, with new Dockmaster, David Carey providing sailors with tours of the facility.

“Despite the weather we had about 35 people attend the open house,” Mr Carey said.

“People were excited to see the marina and were asking lots of great questions about the berths and the facility. Everyone was impressed with it and, overall, we received very positive feedback.”

Boaters interested in a permanent berth at the marina should contact Robin Trimingham on 298-5759 or e-mail robin.trimingham@fairmont.com.
