With the rainy weather expected to continue right into the weekend, Bermuda Docs is hoping to give people two good reasons to stay inside.

The Weekend Film Series, sponsored by Gosling’s, will feature an action-packed spy thriller starring late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman; as well as a murder mystery in The Galapagos Islands.

Both movies will screen in the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on Sunday. A Most Wanted Man was the last film completed by Mr Hoffman.

It stars him as the head of a covert German spy unit in Hamburg, who specialises in bringing down jihadists.

After the arrival of a half-Chechen, half-Russian immigrant into town Mr Hoffman’s character becomes suspicious.

The film, which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, will be screening on Sunday at 5.15pm.

Directed by Anton Corbijn, it also stars Willem Dafoe, Rachel McAdams and Robin Wright.

The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came To Eden, screening the same day at 3pm, tells the true story of an unsolved mystery from the 1930s, which remains the subject of local lore today.

As the film starts a Berlin doctor and his mistress are determined to start a new life on uninhabited Floreana Island.

International media liken them to a modern day ‘Adam and Eve’ and subsequently others flock to the island too.

Of the new inhabitants are a Swiss family and gun-toting Viennese Baroness, along with her two lovers.

The neighbours find themselves agitated and clashes ensue, resulting in the unexplained disappearance of some of the islanders.

Trailers for both films can be viewed at www.bermudadocs.com.

Tickets are on sale at the Oceans Gift Shop at Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, or by calling 294-0204.
