Help spread the word — the KEMH emergency room is moving

The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will move into the new acute care wing of the hospital at 12.01am on Sunday, 14 September.

Awareness of the move is one of the most important messages the hospital has to get across to everyone on the Island. In Bermuda we only have one hospital and everyone who needs to go to the hospital for a physical ailment, has to go there.

In the case of an emergency like a road traffic accident, a drowning, a heart attack, a stabbing, a shooting, a stroke, etc, the victims are brought to the hospital’s Emergency Department.

In such instances, quick action can often make the difference with how well the person is able to recover, or if they are able to recover at all. A few minutes can make a big difference in these cases. That’s why it is so important to remember when the Emergency Department moves.

“We recognise that people may forget and we expect that some people will go to the wrong building,” said a BHB spokesperson.

“We will be using several methods to remind the public of the date and in addition, for those who do go to the wrong building, we will have clear signage advising them of the new location of the Emergency Department.”

Spreading the word to your friends and family will also help.
