Trash backlog cleared

Reports of trash being left for over a week in various parishes, such as Bailey's Bay, has been frustrating residents, due to the unsightly rubbish that has been accumilating since Cup Match. (Photo by Nicola Muirhead)

The backlog of trash in the east of the Island has been removed and collection in western areas will resume as normal tomorrow.

The Ministry of Public Works said this afternoon that a full crew had successfully tackled the piles of garbage that had built up, thanks to additional manpower from the Highways section.

“The Ministry wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the garbage collection delay and thanks residents for their patience,” a spokesman said. “The Ministry will be working to ensure garbage collection remains on schedule going forward.”
