Four arrested for impaired driving

Four people were arrested this morning for impaired driving and were detained at Hamilton Police Station.

Officers on patrol on Church Street at 12.09am noticed a vehicle driving in an erratic manner, so followed the driver and stopped him on Front Street.

He was unsteady on his feet and arrested.

Another driver, a 39-year-old man, was detained at 2.54am after his car was spotted straddling the central divider in the area of Middle Road and South Road in Paget.

Officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol from his breath so apprehended him.

Police carrying out laser speed checks at 3.23am on North Shore Road, near Radnor Road in Hamilton Parish, were ignored by a speeding driver after signalling him to stop.

They followed him and saw him turn in to a minor road, then found the car over a ditch.

The driver was not hurt.

Finally, a speeding car was followed from the Crow Lane and Lane Hill area at 3.29am and the driver was detained after he pulled over at the gas station on East Broadway.

Officers said his eyes were red and glazed, his speech was slurred and his breath smelled.
