Artemis.bm’s Steve Evans to moderate at Convergence ’14

‘Beyond US property cat — the broadening mandate of ILS funds’ is the first panel session that will be held at this year’s ILS (Bermuda) Ltd., the organisers of Bermuda Convergence 2014 have announced.

The session will be moderated by Steve Evans of www.Artemis.bm, and panellists will include Cory Anger of GC Securities, Michael Bennett of the World Bank, John Butler of Twelve Capital, and Lorenzo Volpi of Leadenhall Capital Partners.

The press release stated that panellists will address a range of topics including the shortage of US cat reinsurance, corporate cat bonds, speciality risks, the life industry and emerging markets.

Mr Evans was quoted in the press release as saying: “We will be covering a number of topics focused on growth opportunities for the ILS and cat bond sector, how the ILS mandate can be broadened to encompass new markets, risks, or regions and whether ILS should look beyond insurable interest to cover economic and contingent exposures.”

Panellists include Michael Bennett, a lead financial officer in the treasury of the World Bank, John Butler, a partner and portfolio manager ILS for Twelve Capital, who worked in underwriting for a broad range of non-life treaty classes, and Lorenzo Volpi, head of business development for Leadenhall Capital Partners with more than 14 years of capital markets and reinsurance broking experience.

Mr. Volpi will address speciality risks and also the life market.

Steve Evans is the founder and editor in chief of Artemis.bm. Launched in 1999, Artemis is the longest running news, analysis and data media service devoted to the catastrophe bond, insurance linked security and investments, non-traditional reinsurance capital and related risk transfer markets.
