Homeowner’s guest house plan

A homeowner has applied for planning permission to turn a Southampton residential building into tourist accommodations.

According to the application, viewable at the Department of Planning offices, the property on Coral Acres Drive currently contains a single two-storey building made up of four apartments, two on the lower floor and two on the second floor.

The application proposes turning three of the units in the existing building into self-catering guest suites, while retaining one of the upper level apartments as a residential unit for the homeowner.

The plans as submitted include very little in the way of renovation, apart from splitting a single unit on the lower floor into two separate guest suites.

In the application, Peter Adwick of Adwick Planning wrote: “The property lends itself to being a self catering tourist accommodation as it’s already in multiple occupation, has a quiet and peaceful coastal location providing views and access to the ocean and the use would not have any adverse impact on neighbouring residential properties.”

Mr Adwick also notes that discussions have taken place involving Ministry of Tourism personnel, who have agreed to the proposal subject to licensing requirements being met.
