BSX inches higher

Butterfield Bank’s common shares and preference shares both advanced in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading last week.

The common shares rose a cent to close on $1.99 as 94,242 shares changed hands. Butterfield’s preference shares gained $3, or 0.3 percent, to close on $1,163 on the trading of 50 shares.

BF&M Ltd fell 25 cents, or 1.4 percent, to close the week on $18 as 7,700 shares changed hands.

Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd also dropped, falling one cent, or 0.3 percent, on the trading of 2,000 shares.

Belco owner Ascendant Group Ltd also traded, but its price remained unchanged on $6.15.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 2.96 points, or 0.21 percent, during the five days of trading to end Friday on 1,388.28.
