Mirrors to hold open day

The Mirrors Programme is set to open its doors for an open house on Friday to show the public its efforts to improve the lives of young Bermudians.

Mirrors Coordinator Kim Jackson said: “After the success of last year’s open house it was decided to open our doors to the broader community again this year.

“It’s an opportunity for the public to meet the staff, learn about the organisation’s development, refer young adults, hear testimonies of those who have been involved with the organisation in various capacities and also learn about volunteer opportunities within the organisation.”

This year’s theme — “Voices of a Community: Transforming our community one person at time” — will be embodied by a host of young adult and workshop participants, school representatives, parents and volunteers, who will be on hand to explain how the Mirrors Programme has impacted them.

After attendees have finished exploring the programme there is an opportunity to participate in a quiz about the organisation to win prizes.

Minister of Community, Culture and Sports Wayne Scott added: “The public is in for a real treat as once again the Mirrors Programme opens its doors so that the community can get involved with a programme that has a proven track record and has improved the lives of more than 700 young people in Bermuda.”

The open house will take place at the Mirrors Programme Office inside Global House at 43 Church Street from 10am to 6pm.
