Gradual and organised

Visitors from cruise ships in Dockyard wait for a bus.

August 15, 2014

Dear Sir,

Recently we have been made aware on numerous occasions of the ongoing problem of transporting visitors to the beaches. Cruise passengers who arrive at Dockyard appear to be most affected by this regrettable and most unfortunate situation.

I cannot understand why this happens, or why it is even allowed. Visitors from all age groups, and health status (some in wheelchairs) are required to wait up to two hours in very hot and humid conditions to get a bus to the beach. The area that they wait in, is devoid of any shade or seating.

May I suggest an alternative method, that could be given some consideration.

Passengers who wish to go to the beach, should remain in the comfort of the ship, until they are assured that their transport is available.

The buses (regular and mini) should be parked as close to the ships terminal as allowed. Visitors could depart from the ship, once an announcement is made that the buses have arrived and the number of passengers that can be accommodated at the time. This way they can get on the buses in a gradual and organised manner.

Consideration of the comfort of our wonderful visitors and good communication could solve this problem. Thank you.
