Questions for The People’s Campaign

August 27, 2014

Dear Sir,

I thought Hurricane Cristobal was going to be a bigger deal than he now looks to be so I went out and purchased a new battery-powered radio.

While testing it yesterday evening, I happened upon 102.7FM. At that time, the station was hosting guests involved with The People’s Campaign.

I listened, somewhat bewildered, at what they were saying. How concerned they claimed to be about their future and the future of generations of Bermudians to come, and how this campaign has really “awakened the consciousness of the people”.

For me — a fellow concerned Bermudian — this begs (at least) a couple questions:

1. What took so long for you lot to wake up and become anxious about the future of Bermuda and Bermudians?

2. If you are genuine in your concern for those to come, why was your campaign founded almost a decade after the government’s gross financial incompetence — the same ineptitude that has left us spending more money just to service our debt than on all public education combined — started sweeping this country?

In my quest for enlightenment, answers to these questions by anyone in “TPC” ranks would be appreciated.

DAVID TAVARES,

Southampton
