Alarm at ex-Premier’s call to arms

2 September, 2014

Dear Sir,

I was alarmed at the tone of Dr Brown’s speech at the Union affair last weekend. Calling for the downfall of the elected governent by a former Premier is bewildering. Thinking that the PLP has the divine right to rule reminds me of King Charles I who lost his head for similar thinking.

The people of Bermuda elected what we think is a sane and sensible government, even if some of the parliamentarians were former UBP members. The behavior of the PLP and their actions makes me think that anyone who has any concept of good governance would not be anxious to see that party further contribute to the decay and demise of the Bermuda we all love and expect to continue.

The militant union mentality and pseudo socialism has been outgrown by most of the developing world and instead of having the bright intelligent young Bermudians anxious to contribute to the growth of the country, we have the hot headed rhetoric of unproven incompetents.

Does the average intelligent black Bermudian really believe that the white Bermudian is out to get him or to keep him back? Progress or failure affects us all and the days of perceived victimisation should be cast aside with these who continue to preach racial politics. Racial politics is a profession now practiced by the elderly.

It is my hope that our electorate will realize that the people we elect must be true patriots and not those anxious to get as many deals and make as much money for themselves as sadly has been evident in the recent past.

Sincerely,

JK Williams
