Premier visits police officers in training

Premier and National Security Minister Michael Dunkley got to see some trainee police officers go through their paces when he visited the Police Training School.

Mr Dunkley, accompanied by Junior National Security Minister Senator Jeff Baron, welcomed the 25 recruits, describing them as “a high-quality group of men and women”.

“This course is slated to produce 25 new officers for the Bermuda Police Service and by all accounts they are committed to serving the community and understand the importance of policing to the quality of life we enjoy in Bermuda,” Mr Dunkley said.

“This is a high-quality group of men and women and I was pleased to have the opportunity to welcome them into public service on behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda.”

Sen Baron, a former police officer and instructor on previous training courses, also addressed the officers and encouraged them to be mindful of the onerous responsibilities of serving as police officers.

The officers will graduate next Thursday.
