New health guidelines for schools

The Ministry of Health has issued an updated set of health guidelines for school to coincide with the start of the new school year.

The guidelines are designed to help parents and teachers keep children healthy during term time.

Fact sheets on a range of conditions from rashes to respiratory infections, and conjunctivitis to head lice, will also be provided to schools.

Director of the Department of Health, David Kendell, said: “When children or teachers are unwell it is important for them to remain at home until symptoms abate, to prevent the spread of the illness and to protect the rest of the school population

“Children and teachers who are unwell should always seek the advice of their physician.”

Department of Health school nurses will provide each school with the updated guidelines in the form of a handbook and poster.

They will also be available online at http:///health.gov.bm.
