Tuff Dogs let off the leash
Tuff Dogs, of the Evening Cricket League, showed they can compete with at least First Division teams when they made PHC pay for showing up with just ten men last night.
The match was effectively over as a contest after Tuff Dogs posted 242 for five in their 20 overs, with Robin Joseph smashing 12 fours and two sixes in a knock of 106 while Stephen Drake and Dean Minors chipped in with half-centuries.
Then it was just a question of how well PHC would respond as, admittedly, they put up a fight in reaching 194 for three, thanks to an impressive 68 not out from Sheridan Ming and 42 from teenager Charles Trott.
The bat dominated the ball, with no bowler taking more than one wicket. Tuff Dogs had a good start with openers Drake and Mike Corday putting on 43 before Corday was run out for 11. Drake then added 64 more with No 3 bat Joseph as they brought up the 100 inside ten overs.
Drake hit 11 fours and a six in his 63 before Joseph continued on to score his century, as he and Minors, who made 59, with six fours and three sixes, added 113 for the fourth wicket.
Ming and Trott gave PHC something to smile about in their stand of 77 for the third wicket. Ming hit eight fours and two sixes, while the left-handed Trott had one four and four sixes.
