Magistrate issues warrant

A bail warrant was issued against a Devonshire man after he failed to appear for a mention in Magistrates’ Court.

John Iris, 51, of North Street has denied assaulting and causing bodily harm to Kim Simmons in an incident on June 12, and had been released on $2,000 bail.

He was scheduled to appear in Magistrates’ Court at 9.30am for a mention, but Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a bail warrant when Mr Iris did not appear.

The matter is still scheduled to go to trial next month.
