Close and personal: Saltus head students spoke about their aspirations, hobbies, and advice to other students

Azari Thomas, 17

Deputy Head Girl

Favourite subject: Economics and Psychology

Further Education plans: University of Virginia

Career Aspirations: Pediatrician

Hobbies: Field hockey; kayaking, football, netball, volleyball.

Your priority for the year ahead: To focus on academics but continue to put forward a strong effort towards athletics.

What advice do you have for other students reading this? Don’t be afraid to be different. Voice your opinion. Be memorable. Believe in yourself.

Nicholas Pell, 17

Favourite subject: Physics and Math

Further Education plans: Engineering

Career Aspirations: Inventor or F1 design engineer

Hobbies: Rugby, debate and reading.

Your priority for the year ahead: To get accepted into Cambridge.

What advice do you have for other students reading this? Organisation.

Further Education plans: To go to college and study medicine or design.

Career Aspirations: To possibly have my own business and to be successful in what I do.

Hobbies: Art, dance and fashion design.

Your priority for the year ahead: To get accepted into a good university and to represent the school well and to open myself up to new experiences.

What advice do you have for other students reading this? Have a consistent, strong work ethic. Don’t be hard on yourself for not being “perfect” and don’t be afraid to stand out.

Career Aspirations: To be a physiotherapist.

What advice do you have for other students reading this? Study hard but have fun.

Jake Fisher, 17

Further Education plans: I would like to study geography in the UK, where my father is from.

Career Aspirations: I’m not sure what career I would like to pursue but I would like to do something I enjoy.

Hobbies: I love all sports but basketball is my favourite.

Your priority for the year ahead: Keep working hard and moving forward.

What advice do you have for other students reading this? Don’t ever give up, giving up is easy but it won’t get you anywhere in life; hard work will.

Further Education plans: To go to university and to get started in an organisation targeted toward youth development.

Career Aspirations: To have my own organisation dedicated to community outreach.

Hobbies: Music and sports.

Your priority for the year ahead: Do well in school and get involved in a programme that can better the society.

What advice do you have for other students reading this? Do your best in everything. Don’t attempt to suppress who you are for anybody else. Basically if you want something, go after it; even if it is not the cool thing to do.
