Cooperation starts where competition finishes

Participation.

Communities get stronger and healthier when businesses work with various groups to put on events where people show that they can work together.

A great example of this over the past weekend was the Partner Re 5K walk and run for women in the support of women’s issues and causes.

It is really remarkable that almost 1,200 women showed up to participate and to support each other.

The cooperation of MACC, Partner Re and others created an event that was hard work, fun, and rewarding for all. And the Bermuda Diabetes Association will receive significant funds in order to focus some of its efforts on gestational diabetes.

When business works with the public and volunteer sectors great things do happen. See what each of you can do within your business and other organisations to create more opportunities for community participation.

Franklin D Roosevelt said: “Competition has been shown to be useful up to a certain point and no further, but cooperation, which is the thing we must strive for today, begins where competition leaves off.”
