Dockyard set for busy weekend

Due to arrive: The Royal Caribbean cruise liner Explorer of the Seas is seen in this file photo docked at Kings Wharf, Dockyard

It is set to be a jam-packed weekend in Dockyard with three cruise liners descending on the West End.

The arrival of more than 8,000 visitors is in sharp contrast to last weekend when there were no cruise ships in Dockyard.

This weekend’s influx begins on Saturday morning with the arrival of the Explorer of the Seas.

She is due to arrive in from Cape Liberty in the morning and leave at 4pm the same day.

While on Sunday the Norwegian Dawn is scheduled to come alongside at 11am and will be followed by the Grandeur of the Seas at around 4pm.

Both liners will be in port for two nights and leave on Tuesday. Meanwhile all the usual container ship suspects are back in town this week.

The Somers Isles arrives in Hamilton this morning from Florida and will be shifted up the docks to make way for the Bermuda Islander when she gets in tomorrow.

And finally the Oleander is back in Hamilton on Sunday afternoon.
