Driver arrested over North Shore crash

A Pembroke man has been arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after an early morning crash in Hamilton Parish.

According to a police spokesman, at around 12.20am officers received reports of a single vehicle collision on North Shore Road near the junction with Old Road.

“It appears that a car was being driven along North Shore Road when it collided with a wall,” the spokesman said.

While the car was extensively damaged, both the driver, a 46-year-old Pembroke man, and is passenger, a 43-year-old Hamilton Parish man, escaped with relatively minor injuries. They were both taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where they were treated and released.

The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

The collision is one of several in recent days being investigated by officers. At around 2.15pm yesterday, officers attended the scene of crash near the junction of Harbour Road and Burnt House Drive in Warwick.

The vehicle was travelling along Harbour Road, driven by a 63-year-old Southampton woman, when it struck a utility pole.

Witnesses to that incident are asked to contact PC Shantia Furbert on telephone number 247-1788.

And officers continue to investigate the a collision involving a truck and a motorcycle which occurred at around 1.45pm yesterday at the junction of Crow Lane and Lane Hill in Pembroke.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 56-year-old Devonshire man, remained in the hospital’s General Ward as of this morning.
