Bermuda’s mythical terrors will face off against images extolling the Island’s natural charms starting tomorrow in the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.

The Mythology, Mayhem, Mystery and Marketing Exhibit blends pop culture’s weirdest excesses on the Bermuda Triangle legend with classic depictions of Bermuda as a sanctuary from stress.

“Bermudians have long suffered from a split personality when it comes to mythological representations,” said museum founder Tom Butterfield.

“While tourism promoters favour the hibiscus and pink beaches, popular fiction and film present a portrait of menace and misfortune.”

Dubbed the Four M’s by museum staff, the long-awaited show will toy with Bermuda’s polarised depictions.

The exhibit opens tomorrow at 5.30pm with a special reception, and runs till January 28.
