Wilson drafted in for Crockwell

Personal issues: Crockwell

Temiko Wilson has been drafted into Bermuda’s squad for the Pepsi ICC WCL Division Three tournament after the withdrawal of Fiqre Crockwell for personal reasons.

Wilson, the Western Stars wicketkeeper-batsman, was named as the squad’s standby player, but the Bermuda Cricket Board confirmed that he will join the team when they depart next Wednesday to Dubai for a short training camp before heading to Malaysia for the tournament, which begins on October 23.

Wilson will provide backup wicketkeeping duties to Christian Burgess, a similar role Crockwell would have performed, though he was also expected to be one of the team’s top-order batsmen.

Wilson was the fifth highest run scorer in the First Division with 223 runs in nine innings. He was a colt for Flatts in the final of the Eastern Counties.

Earlier this week, Arnold Manders, the Bermuda head coach, was forced to relinquish his duties after contracting pneumonia for the second time in six months.

The 55-year-old has not been allowed to travel on medical advice.

He has been replaced by Allan Douglas, a former national coach.
