Parks in the City of Hamilton are to remain closed until they are deemed safe for use — having suffered “major damage” yesterday from Tropical Storm Fay.

A City of Hamilton statement issued this morning also warned that electricity has not been fully restored, and that some traffic lights remain out of order.

“The public should take extra care and caution when approaching junctions and pedestrian crossings,” the spokeswoman added. “Please come to a complete stop, check the surroundings and proceed slowly.”

Trash and recycling has resumed.

The cleanup of debris in the roads is continuing today, and the City has asked that drivers be mindful of workers clearing streets and sidewalks — and avoid parking on top of piles of leaves.
