Heavy rain is now lashing the Island thanks to Hurricane Gonzalo with 83 miles per hour winds and gusts of 115mph.

Between three and six inches is forecast to fall over Bermuda, according to the National Hurricane Centre.

A dangerous and life-threatening storm surge is expected to produce significant coastal flooding, the centre warned, and the surge is being accompanied by large and destructive waves.
