Gonzalo passes — now 270 miles to our north

Hurricane Gonzalo is now 270 miles north of Bermuda and the tropical storm warning has ended.

Drier air and more settled conditions will build as winds continue to decrease through the day, the Bermuda Weather Service said in its 6am report.

Maximum sustained winds from the storm are down to 100 miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane Centre’s latest advisory, published just before 9am.

The storm is travelling north-northeast at 22 miles per hour and Gonzalo is expected to become an extratropical cyclone on Sunday, when it will be passing Newfoundland.

Large swells from Gonzalo are still affecting Bermuda.
