Burglary warning

Police are asking the public to remain vigilant and secure their homes to prevent burglaries in the aftermath of Hurricane Gonzalo.

While there hasn’t been a marked increase in the number of burglaries, police are warning people, especially those without electricity, to be on their guard.

“Residents should remain vigilant regarding crimes of opportunity — particularly in areas that remain without electricity,” said a police spokesman.

“Members of the public are reminded to ensure their homes and businesses are secured before leaving them unattended, especially during the hours of darkness.

“In addition, any unusual activity or suspicious individuals seen in their neighbourhoods should be reported without delay to the nearest police station or the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
