Rely on official weather service, director urges

Showers likely forthe weekend, but no serious storm threat as of Saturday

There is no storm brewing in the wake of Hurricane Gonzalo, according to Bermuda Weather Service director Kimberley Zuill — who urged residents to use the BWS website as their official source of weather news.

Ms Zuill reported a stressful week of dealing with rumours that the Island is not currently under threat from another storm, advising the public that if they listen to “non-local sources, you will be misinformed”.

The phone line for the weather service, plus updates on the CableVision channel along with VSB and Vibe, are other official services.

“You deserve to feel confident and prepared, not fearful,” Ms Zuill added.

That said, the Island faces a rainy evening, the BWS posted this afternoon, with a low pressure system approaching from the south that should bring showers and “moderate” winds.
