Man hurt in bike crash

A motorcyclist has injured his leg after hitting a kerb.

The 40-year-old Pembroke man was riding along North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish at about 6.30pm on Sunday when the accident happened near the junction with Radnor Road.

He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

No other vehicles were involved.

Police are appealling for witnesses to contact PC Stephen Millar at the Southside Police Station on telephone number 293-2222.

Meanwhile, a 38-year-old St George’s woman was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after colliding with a parked car.

She was driving her car along Union Street in Pembroke, near the junction with Elliott Street, when the accident happened at about 1am on Saturday.

No one was injured but both cars were damaged, and a court appearance is anticipated.

Police arrested one person on suspicion of impaired driving at the weekend as part of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Programme (STEP).

Three people were arrested for outstanding warrants and officers conducted liquor licence checks at various premises across the Island.
