Charity offering help to seniors after storms

Seniors needing home repairs as a result of the two recent storms are being encouraged to get in touch with Age Concern for help.

The charity said today it was assessing how much financial support was needed by those aged 65 years and older in the wake of Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricane Gonzalo.

Executive director Claudette Fleming said: “The assessment process is not a guarantee of financial support. Successful applications will be based on the availability of funds, degree of urgency, severity of need and other individual circumstances.”

Anyone who thinks they or someone they know could be eligible for help should contact Age Concern on 238-7525 or e-mail ageconcernadm@northrock.bm.

The charity’s physical address is Age Concern, Charities House, 25 Point Finger Road, Paget, DV02 and the mailing address is Age Concern, PO Box HM 2397, Hamilton, HM JX.

Hurricane relief donations for the elderly are also welcome.
