What does Black Friday mean to you?

Bargain hunting: The early hours of a past Black Friday

The Phoenix Group is inviting shoppers to describe how Black Friday has become “a celebrated holiday tradition for them and their families, and what rituals they have adopted to make the morning after Thanksgiving their adrenalin-filled, unofficial start to the holiday season,” according to a press release from the company.

Tina Adderley, head of marketing for Phoenix Group of Stores was quoted in the press release as stating: “We know that for many of our customers, getting out early on the morning after Thanksgiving is about more than getting a great deal, it’s a way to celebrate the start of the holiday season with friends and family.

“We do our best to make Black Friday a fun, festive time for our customers and we invest many, many hours in preparation for the big day. This contest is just another way for us to recognise those who support the Phoenix Group, and to give them a truly special experience during what has become a truly celebrated shopping event.”

The ten winners will receive a $100 Phoenix Stores gift card and early admittance into the store of their choice the night before Black Friday to be among the first shoppers to purchase up to four ‘doorbusters’, the Phoenix Group have announced, along with a digital camera “to document their Black Friday VIP experience.”

Participating stores include Phoenix Centre, The Annex Toys, Phoenix Kidz, P-Tech and Brown & Co.

Consumers are invited to submit a 250-word story to marketing@psl.bm between November 4 and November 14, 2014.

The ten winners will be notified by November 19 and their stories and photos will be published in The Royal Gazette on Friday, November 21.
