Women’s Club does its best for bees

The International Women’s Club of Bermuda has come to the aid of the Island’s bee population.

Through Alexandra Nelson, the IWC’s philanthropy chairperson, the group presented a cheque $1,760 to the Bermuda Environmental Sustainability Taskforce (Best) this week with a view enhancing the community’s understanding of how to protect bees.

The bee population was dealt a significant blow by the impact of Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricane Gonzalo, which resulted in the loss of local habitats and flora.

Best, through its Keep Bermuda Buzzing campaign, has taken the lead on the bee front and its cause led to the group being chosen as the beneficiary of the IWC’s fundraising cruise on the UberVida.
