A joyful look at power of music

Music has the power to heal.

That’s the underlying message in a new film being shown in the upcoming Weekend Film Series.

Alive Inside tells how individuals around the US were revitalised by listening to music when prescription medication fell short.

It won an audience prize at the Sundance Film Festival and will screen here on Sunday at 3pm.

Elizabeth Stewart of Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia will participate in a question-and-answer discussion immediately after the film.

Also screening on Sunday is Boyhood, which chronicles the life of a boy over a 12-year-period. The film will start at 5.15pm.

It was named the Critics’ Top Pick of the Year and has been given a 100 percent approval rating on rottentomatoes.com.

Tickets to both films are on sale at Oceans Gift Shop at BUEI or by calling 294-0204.
