Pair fined over breath test

Two Canadian rugby players have been fined for failing to take a breath test when they were stopped on suspicion of drink-driving.

Jim McDonald and Glen Miller were also disqualified from driving for 12 months at Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The two motorcyclists were stopped as they drove along Crow Lane in Hamilton in the early hours of today after officers noticed them weaving from side to side in the road.

McDonald and Miller, who sported Canadian Classic rugby team shirts, both denied impaired driving.

But they pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath.

McDonald, 45, and Miller, 39, were fined $1,500 each and disqualified from driving for a year.
