Bermuda Radio has stressed the importance of filing a float plan before heading to sea after a man who went on an early morning solo fishing trip on Thursday failed to return to shore until after midnight.

His partner called Bermuda Radio saying she had no idea about the whereabouts of the man.

On his return the fisherman reported that his cellphone batteries were flat and that water had entered his marine radio and that he had simply decided to stay out on the water for longer than usual.
